“The Fallen” 2/8

This is pushing PG-13, but I think it works. It does come back to what I mentioned about Les and Min being used to being alone.

Saw the beginning of Part 3 early this morning. Going to work on that now.

At breakfast the next morning, Eloise was worried her eldest daughter was sick.

“You are bright red, Saras!” she exclaimed, bringing food to the table.  “Let me get a thermometer…”

“I’m fine, Mom,” she replied, hanging her head.  I can’t say why I’m this way.  So embarrassed!

“Eloise?” Les spoke up.  “I think that this is our fault.  Min and I are used to being completely alone and, well, might have made some noises which spooked Saras a little.”

Don’t talk about it! she thought, her hands over her face now.

“Oh.  Oh!” Now Eloise realized.  “Well, perhaps you two can keep it down next…”

“MOM!” Saras exploded.

“While I do not have a vagina, my mouth works very well, as Les knows,” Minerva said over her empty plate.  “And I guess as your daughter heard.”

“That’s IT!” Saras shoveled the last of her ersatz scrambled egg into her mouth and made for the bathroom.  “Stop talking about it!”

They’re laughing at me, she heard while brushing her teeth.  And uncle and I are supposed to go on a field trip today; I want to get under my bed covers and hide.

Knowing that would just be shirking her duty, she went to her room and began pulling her suit on, hearing Min call to her mom that she would be feeding her flesh while those two were gone.

“What did you say?” Eloise demanded, walking out of the little kitchen.  Les was still drying the dishes.

“My skin is alive, Eloise,” Min said, demonstrating that by touching her hand to the human’s face.  “But, as you know, I don’t eat.  Therefore, I use a nutritional solution, through a port under my arms, to keep that part of myself alive.”

“I…I thought it was just some high-grade collagen or polymer,” Eloise admitted, trying not to stare.  “Do you need to go to an infirmary…?”

“Not at all.  I do this all the time.  I’ll sit quietly in my room.” She smiled.  “What with my Master eating you out of house and home, I have located the market.  I shall restock for you, after, as thanks for the gift of your home.”

“That’s not…oh, hell,” Saras paused in checking her nasal oh-two line to watch her mother give a little hug to their guest.

Tapping her foot and waiting on Les, she saw him finally emerge, but pause to lean down to Min.  They placed their hands on each other’s faces.

“I feel bad, staring at them,” her mother whispered.

“They’re different.  Don’t.”

“Look at you, all-grown-up, now!” El laughed at her, joined by their two guests, who broke their contact.

“Let’s have an adventure, Niece!” he called with a smile.
