For the dog, not me. I’m for the cheap wine, with some occasional gin in the warmer months. See, for example, my recent post on Instagram (@machciv). The story below follows immediately on that from my last blog post; I’d seen all of it, but was just too tired. Bad news at work, bad news at home… it piles up. Instead, let’s have three friends drink tea and nibble cookies on a rainy, Portland, Sunday afternoon!
Because I needed to put the third and final piece (eavesdropping and Mackenzie) into place, first. Now the rest of Part One can begin to unfold. Things are going to be fine.
In Part One.
Having revised, re-edited, and re-covered my first novel – Amazon has me in the Science Fiction
ghetto country club, but all my stories are really about relationships, in this case, between friends – I’ve been serializing it on Wattpad.
I’ve gotten very little traction to-date. The site is mostly populated by Gen Zyklon; my eldest daughter says she reads it for the ecchi fan-fiction, but I’m open to trying new markets. Still and all, if there’s no pickup in readership, I’ll be closing that tent in a week.
Until then, if you care to read about cute machines and humans doing cute things, please drop by!
“Hasten slowly.” Twenty quatloos – and a free, signed copy of the second edition of “The Fourth Law” to the first person who identifies who is best known for that quote: hasten slowly.
It begins to come out that while they are total strangers, Arpad and Lily do know quite a bit about one another. And it seems they both like what they’ve discovered. Lily’s past is still a splinter in her mind; I know that there are things as bad in his. He’s old enough that his father could have been in the AVO, and so despised. Hell, maybe he’s Orban’s love child?… we’ll see!
It’s lunch time and the sun’s warm!
PS And yes, that’s Lily’s silhouette in the center in black. Cute girl.
Wow. All this in five hours. Sorry, folks, I’m taking tomorrow off or else I’m dead.
I’m hoping to see something that takes me off in a new direxion tomorrow. 11k words here is, I think, enough. I am SO HAPPY things ended up where they are. Sure: I can go full Will Deonne and have Henge’s nanomaterials disassociate her into a drift of sand on the floor, but I don’t think I will.
Sweet Jesus: what will their children be like?!
Funny that I’ve yet to reach the plot point that made me laugh out loud while driving to work yesterday. Perhaps tomorrow. Whether 500 or 5000 words, I need to create a permanent or temporary close to this story: the professional edit and new cover for my first novel “The Fourth Law” are complete and I need those uploaded to Createspace. The cover is the easy part. The text body has to go from Word to pdf, wherein I edit and move, then request a physical proof for review. I’ve done this three times already, but at about once every nine months I drink too much to recall the details.
Below the fold, I’d had some conversations recently with some in the medical field about challenges that might be faced by new-made humans.
Awful day. Cable modem has failed. Too hungover to bang wife in the AM. Cooking last turkey of the season and something’s wrong with the propane system. Kill me.
At least there’s this.
