B17. Part Three. 21

It’s Friday, even if I have to go into DayJob for a few hours tomorrow, so a shorter entry. I’m hoping to write the conclusion of Part Three either today or today and tomorrow. I’d been stumped as to how Aurie was going to mess with Eloise’s mind; demis can do a lot, but they aren’t Machines who can rewrite your memories, as when Reina gifted Allen Rupert warship design.

The Canadian CSIS sounds as corrupt as our current three-letter agencies. Democracy leads to socialism which demands state terror.

Book 17. Part Three. 20

From the odd interaction with Ninon, and Ai, Eloise is now thrust back into international politics. And her commanding general does not seem pleased.

Part Three shall end with Eloise going north. Plane? Scout saucer? Don’t know yet. Boy, am I going to have to edit and restructure the hell out of this MS.

Book 17. Part Three. 19

Eloise recovers but, again, being human, cannot recall everything from the first time she was in a construct and thus is a little confused. Recognizing her stress, Ai sends her back.

Speaking of, I’m working on what happens, first to El’s flight north, its interception (I think), then her incarceration. Given the structural nature of this MS so far, I foresee a little segment with Bob Hardt, then a conclusion – of a sort – with us back with Sgt. Konev (remember him?).

My copyeditor will likely too busy with Imaginarium to get to this before July. I also need to start thinking about front/back covers to give my amazing cover designer some direxion.

Book 17. Part Three. 18

For my loyal, book-buying readers, this is not Ninon’s first speaking role. We’ve seen her twice in two other books but she has a role to play in my novella. She is a Machine very interesting in finding more of her own kind in the stars; but, every now and then, a human’s plight seems to tug something of the the fourth law in her.

After my blitz on Sunday, I’ve enough for posts this week. I saw an odd image yesterday and it is compelling me to write a story around it. A story about a world already over.

Book 17. Part Three. 16

There, of course, isn’t going to be a war. They will talk this out. I just don’t know how, yet. We get a glimpse again of demi-human power: while Aurie spoke with these two, part of her mind was with two more. It’ll be interesting if, as a Catholic, she thinks she needs to go to Confession for her diplomacy. We also remind the readers that Texas, while not a Great Power, holds some high cards, too.

There will be another pause as I need to get the next overall scene just so and get the camera back onto Eloise. I may have an idea about what to do with the months I need before she’s arrested. Further, driving home today, I realized I might completely restructure what y’all have been reading. The whole thing, from Sgt. Konev, on. It will make the book three parts instead of four and provide a landing for me around 65,000 words. I think. I never start that kind of major editing until I know I’m finished.

Book 17. Part Three. 15

“That’s no moon; that’s a space station!”

I know from one of my other books that the Texians have fission and fusion weapons in their possession, so Aurie cannot be too big an asshole to them. And they are still detaining Livia Hartmann. Re that: Eloise gets a slap to the head about how the imperial family thinks.

Book 17. Part Three. 8

And here I am, ten days later. Been thinking a lot while prepping Daughter #1 for her Hokkaido internship then getting Daughter #2 installed in her 5th-floor flat, two hours away. And it’s a 5th-floor with no elevator for an old man with hypertension. But I’m getting back into the story and realizing revisions are going to be as important as new material.

Below starts with a bit of a re-write of the last post as I thought of the “write a letter” thing a few days later. It happens. I’m also thinking about moving the entire “imperial family back six months late” to the end of Part Three. I’ll know more when I get there.

Book 17. Part Three. 6

Apologies for the delay. Daughter #1 graduated from college (BS Animal Science) on Saturday. It was a few hours drive and then there was a celebratory dinner. Then the drive home…

Where I realized I felt insanely bad. My guess is being in several crowds, I picked up some bug. I was in bed all day Sunday and could not eat at all. Had some water and a piece of toast to make it into DayJob on Monday but was still a wreck. Monday afternoon it occurred to me to take some of our ivermecting 1% PO and then a nap. By 1800, I felt human again. That stuff is amazing and everyone in every Western government who opposed (and opposes) its use should be crucified.

Anyway, back to the story. Where were we? Ah: Aurie’s knocked up and Eloise is a drunk foreign spy. Got it. Let’s mix an angel into the batch, shall we? And said angel tosses Eloise a lifeline.

Book 17. Part Three. 5

A lengthier addition as I’m travelling this extended weekend. Daughter #1 is graduating college with a technical degree and completely debt-free. I want to be there to honor her for her hard work. A week later she’ll be in Japan for an internship. I hope she’s been watching lots of anime for her language lessions.

Below… well, it’s not really a surprise to us, as we saw the end of Part Two. Still, Aurie’s announcement surprises everyone, even her husband who got her that way an hour before. I do wonder what Julian means about Eloise “being different” as she is entirely human. I might be misunderstanding what the lad means. When he said, “my family are scavengers,” I nearly spit-taked my Martini onto the laptop screen.

And as we have all seen, once you put a glass in Eloise’s hand, she doesn’t stop. Very cheap date.

Book 17. Part Three. 4

Eloise thinks it is high time for her to have a word with her boss. She realizes she might be scaring him with her report, but also knows that he and the rest of high command should be at least concerned, if not scared, by what she has seen. Canada has a larger population and vastly more territory, all of which means nothing to the Hartmann family and the power they control.

The Empress’ second husband, much like her first, seems a very likeable guy. For a self-centered, stuck-up snot, Fussy seems to have luck picking men.
